This is a pear crostata, or free form tart. I needed a quick dessert, so I pulled some shortbread dough from the freezer and rolled it out into a rectangle. I mixed some cream cheese with maple syrup and spread it everywhere except 1-2 inches from the edges. I spread a little cherry preserves on that and them layered on the pears. I think I drizzled a little maple syrup on the pears too. Then I folded the sides over the pears. I sprinkled a little granola on top and rock sugar on the edges and baked at 375 or so until it was golden brown. I'm loving the fall foods. This has been the picture for this month on my calendar so mine was patterned after it.

Ok, so I just looked through all your posts and now I feel like the loser cook of all time. Poor Jakey gets the same old meals all the time and they are nothing special. Oh well. He probably wouldn't appreciate them anyway, since his favorite food is craperole.
